Le opere della Pasqua: la Resurrezione di Sebastiano Ricci
Con l’approssimarsi della Santa Pasqua, voglio proporvi il dipinto della Resurrezione di Sebastiano Ricci in cui l’artista volle raffigurare Cristo mentre ascende al cielo.
Circondato da una schiera di angeli che sembrano incastonati tra le nuvole, Cristo con il vessillo nella sinistra e la mano destra levata, viene attratto verso l’alto, avvolto da una luce celestiale.
I soldati che sorvegliavano il sepolcro sono sconvolti da quella luce e dalla straordinarietà di ciò che sta accadendo. Qualcuno si butta a terra coprendosi gli occhi, altri sembrano tramortiti mentre qualcuno fugge con l’alabarda in mano.
Davanti alla tomba, sulla destra, si vede un centurione che addirittura sta per sfoderare la spada, come e quel gesto potesse salvarlo da chissà che cosa.
Sebastiano Ricci mise mano a questo dipinto tra il 1715 e il 1716. Per poterlo apprezzare con i vostri occhi, dovete andare alla Dulwich Picture Gallery di Londra.

As Easter approaches, I want to show you the painting of the Resurrection by Sebastiano Ricci in which the artist wanted to depict Christ ascending to heaven.
Surrounded by a host of angels who seem to be set in the clouds, Christ with the banner in his left hand and his right hand raised, is attracted upwards, enveloped in a celestial light.
The soldiers who were guarding the tomb are shocked by that light and by the extraordinary nature of what is happening. Some throw themselves to the ground covering their eyes, others seem stunned while someone runs away with a halberd in their hand.
In front of the tomb, on the right, you can see a centurion who is even about to unsheathe his sword, as if that gesture could save him from who knows what.
Sebastiano Ricci began this painting between 1715 and 1716. To appreciate it with your own eyes, you must go to the Dulwich Picture Gallery in London.
