Colori vivaci, forme futuriste e marchi noti divenuti tali anche grazie a un talento straordinario, quello di Depero.

Da ieri è accessibile al pubblico la mostra “Sete di Futurismo. Fame d’America” a Verona, allestita nella sede di EARTH Foundation, ubicata al primo piano del complesso Eataly.

Depero e la sua sete di futurismo

Ritrovarsi tra le opere di Depero è come avere sotto gli occhi le immagini pubblicitarie prima ancora della nascita del Carosello televisivo.

L’intuizione e il talento di Depero permise ad alcuni brand di far rimanere impressa nella mente dei potenziali acquirenti la propria immagine divenendo così dei must have. Basti pensare al liquore Strega o a Campari giusto per citare due celebri esempi.

Il lungo e proficuo sodalizio di Depero con Campari portò alla notorietà la bibita che chissà, forse senza l’estro creativo dell’artista, oggi sarebbe già stata dimenticata.

Depero però non è solo pubblicità ma anche uno dei più noti artisti del futurismo non è solo pubblicità. Il progetto espositivo “Sete di Futurismo. Fame d’America” è stato realizzata in collaborazione con il Mart di Rovereto e con il dipartimento cultura e civiltà dell’Università di Verona.

Con l’eccellente curatela di Federico Zanoner responsabile di Casa Depero, e Luca Bochicchio, il progetto propone una buona selezione di opere variegate che spaziano dalla scultura al design, dai dipinti agli oggetti d’arredo abitualmente esposti al Mart.

Il legame che Depero aveva con il cibo, la tavola e i luoghi di consumo è predominante nelle sue creazioni. Basta leggere uno stralcio, per altro scritto in ottima grafia, di ciò che si ritrovava dinanzi sulla tavola durante il suo viaggio in Sicilia per comprendere quanto fosse grande la sua passione per il buon mangiare e di tutti quei riti che si svolgono in cucina.

“Noi futuristi, Balla e Depero, vogliamo realizzare questa fusione totale per ricostruire l’universo rallegrandolo, cioè ricreandolo integralmente. Daremo scheletro e carne all’invisibile, all’impalpabile, all’imponderabile, all’impercettibile. Troveremo degli equivalenti astratti di tutte le forme e di tutti gli elementi dell’universo, poi li combineremo insieme, secondo i capricci della nostra ispirazione, per formare dei complessi plastici che metteremo in moto.”

Il percorso espositivo ha inizio con le opere degli esordi, risalenti al 1914, momento in cui Fortunato Depero ebbe modo di toccare con mano a Roma il movimento futurista.

Si snoda con una sezione dedicata alla permanenza negli Stati Uniti per poi concludersi negli anni Cinquanta mediante le collaborazioni che l’artista ebbe con i brand Cantine Cavazzani e in particolare con Braibanti, l’azienda che produceva macchinari per la lavorazione della pasta.

La mostra sarà accessibile fino a sabato 1 marzo 2025 con un biglietto d’ingresso di 5 euro.

Lorenzo Vitturi presenta ‘Borgo Roma. Paesaggio in transizione’

L’Art House di Verona ospita in contemporanea alla mostra di Depero le foto installazioni di Lorenzo Vitturi, artista contemporaneo nato a Venezia nel 1980 e considerato al momento tra i più influenti nel panorama artistico nazionale e non solo.

Curata da Giangiavino Pazzola che si occupa dei progetti di ricerca della CAMERA Centro Italiano per la Fotografia di Torino, in collaborazione con Giulia Adami, curatorial project manager di EARTH Foundation, l’esposizione mette in relazione il quartiere periferico in cui la struttura che la ospita si trova, Borgo Roma, e lo scorrere del tempo, il cambiare dei suoi abitanti e della cultura di chi lo abita.

Il fotografo racconta e si racconta attraverso i suoi scatti immortalando personaggi e cose nel ghiaccio, prima di farli passare attraverso l’obiettivo.

Giaccio, cibo e culture sono il punto di incontro con Earth Foundation, ubicata all’interno di quella che un tempo fu la più grande ghiacciaia d’Europa. Lì dove fino agli anni cinquanta veniva fabbricato il ghiaccio per refrigerare le merci prima dell’avvento dei frigoriferi industriali e domestici, Vetturi ha congelato i suoi soggetti.

Sebbene al primo sguardo sembra il caos regni sovrano, prestando un po’ più d’attenzione alle foto-installazioni ci si rende conto che di guidato dal caso ci sia davvero poco.

Per rendere più comprensibile e completo il lavoro di Vitturi, è necessario entrare nella seconda sala in cui sono presenti opere provenienti da precedenti lavori realizzati a Dalston a Londra e al Balogun Market a Lagos.

La mostra di Vitturi rimarrà aperta fino al 6 gennaio 2025 ed è a ingresso gratuito.

Cos’è Earth Foundation

Earth Foundation è un progetto dedicato alle arti, creato da Oscar Farinetti, fondatore di Eataly, Chiara Ventura, manager culturale, e Francesco Farinetti, Presidente di Green Pea, situato a Eataly Verona.

Verona: Depero’s futurism and Vitturi’s photo installations at the Earth Foundation

Bright colors, futuristic shapes and well-known brands that became famous also thanks to an extraordinary talent, that of Depero.

Since yesterday, the exhibition “Thirst for Futurism. Fame d’America” ​​has been accessible to the public in Verona, set up in the EARTH Foundation headquarters, located on the first floor of the Eataly complex.

Depero and his thirst for futurism

Finding yourself among Depero’s works is like having advertising images before the birth of the television Carosello.
Depero’s intuition and talent allowed some brands to make their image remain imprinted in the minds of potential buyers, thus becoming must-haves. Just think of Strega liqueur or Campari, just to name two famous examples.

Depero’s long and fruitful partnership with Campari brought fame to the drink that, who knows, perhaps without the artist’s creative flair, would have already been forgotten today.

Depero, however, is not just advertising but also one of the most famous artists of futurism is not just advertising. The exhibition project “Thirst for Futurism. Fame d’America” was created in collaboration with the Mart in Rovereto and the culture and civilization department of the University of Verona.

With the excellent curatorship of Federico Zanoner, head of Casa Depero, and Luca Bochicchio, the project offers a good selection of varied works ranging from sculpture to design, from paintings to furnishing objects usually exhibited at the Mart.

We will give skeleton and flesh to the invisible, the impalpable, the imponderable, the imperceptible. We will find abstract equivalents of all the forms and all the elements of the universe, then we will combine them together, according to the whims of our inspiration, to form plastic complexes that we will set in motion.”

The exhibition itinerary begins with the early works, dating back to 1914, when Fortunato Depero had the opportunity to experience the Futurist movement first-hand in Rome.

It unfolds with a section dedicated to his stay in the United States and then concludes in the 1950s through the collaborations that the artist had with the Cantine Cavazzani brands and in particular with Braibanti, the company that produced machinery for processing pasta.

The exhibition will be accessible until Saturday 1 March 2025 with an entrance ticket of 5 euros.

Lorenzo Vitturi presents ‘Borgo Roma. Landscape in transition’

The Art House in Verona hosts, at the same time as the Depero exhibition, the photo installations of Lorenzo Vitturi, a contemporary artist born in Venice in 1980 and currently considered among the most influential in the national and international art scene.

Curated by Giangiavino Pazzola, who is in charge of research projects at CAMERA Centro Italiano per la Fotografia in Turin, in collaboration with Giulia Adami, curatorial project manager of EARTH Foundation, the exhibition connects the peripheral neighborhood in which the structure that hosts it is located, Borgo Roma, and the passage of time, the changes in its inhabitants and the culture of those who live there.
