Cercando in rete ho trovato un interessante docufilm da proporvi, dedicato ad Artemisia Gentileschi, la straordinaria artista di scuola caravaggesca e prima donna ad essere stata ammessa in un’Accademia del Disegno nel 1616, a Firenze, a soli 23 anni.

“Artemisia Gentileschi, Pittrice Guerriera“ è un docufilm italiano girato nel 2020 sotto al direzione dal regista Jordan River e propone sia la vita che le opere dell’artista che divenne grande amica del mio pronipote Michelangelo Buonarroti il Giovane e di Galileo Galilei.

Si tratta di un viaggio quasi poetico nei suoi capolavori più noti ma anche nelle opere meno celebri dell’artista divenuta nel tempo simbolo del femminismo nel mondo.

Artemisia era profondamente devota a Dio e di forza spirituale sono intrise le sue tele. Potenti e coinvolgenti, la loro forza mistica non smette di coinvolgere lo spettatore a distanza di secoli.

La forza di un gigante nelle mani di una donna preannuncia il trailer e determinazione Artemisia ne ebbe davvero molta.

A 18 anni fu stuprata dal pittore e amico del padre Agostino Tassi. Orazio, babbo di Artemisia, denuncia l’accaduto alle autorità. Il processo per stupro sarà lungo , travagliato e in quel contesto storico segnerà il disonore non dello stupratore ma della giovane artista.

I metodi barbari e persecutori nei confronti della vittima che vennero messi in pratica durante il processo fanno rabbrividire. Fu torturata in modo atroce per estorcergli la verità.

Il documentario “Artemisia Gentileschi, Pittrice Guerriera“ è girato in alta risoluzione 4K CinemaScope ed è stato candidato ai David di Donatello nel 2021. Ha vinto come miglior documentario al XXIV Terra di Siena International Film Festival nel 2020 e conquistato una menzione speciale per l’attrice Angela Curri nel ruolo di Artemisia al Best Feature Docudrama al Global Nonviolent Film Festival 2020 in USA.
