Preraffaelliti: in preparazione la grande mostra
È in preparazione la gande mostra dedicata al movimento inglese dei Preraffaelliti che aprirà i battenti presso i Musei di San Domenico a Forlì il prossimo anno, dal 23 febbraio fino al 30 giugno 2024.
“Preraffaelliti. Un nuovo rinascimento” sarà il titolo dell’esposizione che renderà omaggio alla corrente artistica che iniziò a svilupparsi in Inghilterra a partire della seconda metà dell’Ottocento.
Le opere esposte saranno oltre trecento, per la maggior parte provenienti da musei inglesi e americani.
Sapete da cosa deriva il termine Preraffaellita?
Si tratta di un riferimento all’arte prima di Raffaello Sanzio, ritenuto da chi prendeva parte al movimento fosse stato colpevole di aver inquinato l’arte esaltando l’idealizzazione della natura e il sacrificio della realtà a vantaggio della bellezza, buttando le basi per l’accademismo.
Al momento è stato reso noto che in mostra saranno presenti tutti quei dipinti di artisti che durante la prima e nella seconda fase del Preraffaellismo si lasciarono ispirare dal movimento come il pittore Ford Madoz Brown, Frederic Leighton e Dante Gabriel Rossetti, giusto per citarne alcuni dei più celebri.
Grande importanza verrà data alle arti decorative e grafiche mentre l’ultima sezione sarà interamente dedicata agli artisti italiani di fine Ottocento e inizio Novecento.
Non ci rimane dunque che attendere qualche mese per poter entrare finalmente nelle sale della grande mostra “Preraffaelliti. Un nuovo rinascimento” a Forlì.

Pre-Raphaelites: preparations for the great exhibition
The major exhibition dedicated to the English movement of the Pre-Raphaelites is being prepared and will open its doors at the San Domenico Museums in Forlì next year, from 23 February to 30 June 2024.
“Pre-Raphaelites. A new Renaissance” will be the title of the exhibition which will pay homage to the artistic current that began to develop in England from the second half of the 19th century.
There will be over three hundred works on display, mostly from British and American museums.
Do you know where the term Pre-Raphaelite comes from?
It is a reference to art before Raffaello Sanzio, believed by those who took part in the movement to have been guilty of having polluted art by exalting the idealization of nature and the sacrifice of reality for the benefit of beauty, laying the foundations for the academicism.
At the moment it has been announced that the exhibition will feature all those paintings by artists who during the first and second phases of Pre-Raphaelitism were inspired by the movement such as the painter Ford Madoz Brown, Frederic Leighton and Dante Gabriel Rossetti just to name a few of the most celebrate.
Great importance will be given to the decorative and graphic arts while the last section will be entirely dedicated to Italian artists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
So we just have to wait a few months to finally be able to enter the halls of the great exhibition “Pre-Raphaelites. A new renaissance” in Forlì.
