Oggi ad essere nel mirino è stata la Fontana della Barcaccia del Bernini in Piazza di Spagna, una delle più celebri fontane di Roma.

Realizzata da Pietro Bernini e terminata dal figliolo Gian Lorenzo, da secoli fa sgorgare le acque ai piedi della scalinata di Trinità dei Monti che oggi invece che cristalline saranno color nero pece.

Il blitz è stato fatto alle ore 11:30 di questa mattina dagli attivisti che sostengono di protestare con lo scopo di sensibilizzare persone e governi sul tema del cambiamento climatico. Come ho detto in altre occasioni, la causa seppur nobilissima, non giustifica i mezzi.

Se si vuole essere ascoltati bisogna quantomeno essere degni di rispetto e qui mi pare che di rispetto non ce ne sia affatto per un patrimonio che appartiene a tutti e ha bisogno di essere salvaguardato per le generazioni future.

Il ripristino di queste opere d’arte costa denaro e risorse preziose che non andrebbero sprecate se davvero si vuol salvaguardare l’ambiente. Basta pensare a ciò che è accaduto solo una manciata di giorni fa a Firenze: per ripulire la vernice con il quale è stata imbrattata la facciata di Palazzo Vecchio sono stati sprecati 5mila litri di acqua. E non dite che la vernice è biodegradabile: se non fosse stata rimossa nell’immediato, sarebbe stata assorbita dalle pietre e lì rimasta.

E questi sarebbero ecologisti?

Tentano di giustificarsi dicendo che sia colorante a base di carbone vegetale, ma a questi glie l’ha detto nessuno che il travertino è poroso? Poi immaginatevi un travertino che sta lì dal 1629,

Intanto mentre gli attivisti inscenano fare simili, in Germania gli omologhi tedeschi di Letzte Generation stanno fondando un partito e prima o poi accadrà anche qua.

Ma non è previsto il carcere fino a 5 anni e multa fino a 15 mila euro per chi imbratta o deturpa beni culturali e paesaggistici? Spero che venga seguito l’esempio dei Musei Vaticani che sono in causa con i due individui che si incollarono al piedistallo del Laocoonte.

Non se ne può più di questa barbarie. A cosa serve? A spostare l’attenzione sul problema da parte di chi? Certo che il problema esiste ma esistono pure modi costruttivi e propositivi rispetto al cieco vandalismo nudo e crudo.

Just think of what happened just a handful of days ago in Florence: 5,000 liters of water were wasted to clean up the paint with which the facade of Palazzo Vecchio was smeared. And don’t say that the paint is biodegradable: if it wasn’t removed immediately it would have been absorbed by the stones and remained there.

And these would be ecologists?

They try to justify themselves by saying that it is a charcoal-based dye, but has no one told these people that travertine is porous?

Meanwhile, while activists stage similar actions, in Germany the German counterparts of Letzte Generation found a party and sooner or later it will happen here too.

But isn’t there a prison sentence of up to 5 years and a fine of up to 15,000 euros for those who smear or disfigure cultural and landscape assets? I hope that the example of the Vatican Museums will be followed which are in dispute with your men who glued themselves to the pedestal of the Laocoon.

We can’t take any more of this barbarism. What is it for? To shift attention to the problem by whom? Of course the problem exists but there are also constructive and proactive ways with respect to blind vandalism naked and raw.
