La grande testa del David in Piazza Santa Croce: intervista all’artista ideatore Brogini
In Piazza Santa Croce, davanti alla chiesa che custodisce le mie spoglie, è comparsa sul selciato la testa del David che occupa circa 1500 metri quadrati di superficie.
Un omaggio all’importante anniversario dalla mia nascita ideato dall’artista Tommaso Brogini di Nonfinito Art Gallery che regala un colpo d’occhio straordinario.
Per vedere questo lavoro però bisogna affrettarsi perché il calpestio delle persone poco a poco lo degraderanno.
- Come è nata l’idea di dipingere il volto del David davanti a Piazza Santa Croce per rendermi omaggio nel 550 anni dalla mia nascita?
Tommaso Brogini: “L’ idea nasce in relazione ai 550 anni del Maestro e, da parte mia, per confermare davanti al sua tomba il mio amore per lui. In 32 anni l’ho disegnato, dipinto, omaggiato con tante storie raccontate a cominciare dalla mia tesi in architettura su di lui”.
- Con quale tecnica è stato dipinto?
T.B.: “La tecnica della pittura è pigmento bianco e nero con acqua uniti con tanta maestria e passione.”
- In quanti avete lavorato alla realizzazione del progetto e qual è la cosa più bella che le è capitata da quando ha iniziato a pensare alla possibilità di mettere in pratica la sua idea?
T.B.: “Le ultime due domande le unisco in una risposta. Sabato (29 marzo) hanno aiutato me e la mia collega madonnara Kumiko Suzuki il liceo artistico, con tanti ragazzi e i loro professori. La cosa più bella è il fatto che i ragazzi possano vivere un’esperienza così interessante e che gli possa rimanere la coscienza che “con l’ arte si può fare”. Spero che abbiano con sé tutta la passione possibile per continuare a fare cose belle”
A seguire vi propongo la lettera che l’artista Tommaso Brogini ha scritto qualche tempo fa David e che ha voluto condividere con tutti noi: buona lettura.
“Caro DAVID, ti scrivo per parlarti, descriverti e raccontarti, come faccio ormai da anni, la mia vita.
In un mondo che cerca sempre sicurezza nella tecnologia e nelle “perfezioni” io mi trovo a disagio e per contrapposizione mi sovvieni Tu. Ormai da cinquecento anni passati, cinquecentoventuno per l’esattezza, vegli sul centro, nella piazza più importante della mia città; a te che hai la possibilità di elevarti, di vedere “disegni particolari”, che spettano solo a chi è capace di portarsi in alto, ti chiedo di intervenire! Abbiamo bisogno , tutta Firenze e non solo, necessita di attenzione, di rendersi migliore a dispetto delle apparenze.
Occorre insegnare la tua lezione, una lezione di Pace. Dobbiamo capire che il modo giusto per affrontare i problemi sta nel saperli studiare, penetrare e conoscere. Tu mi hai insegnato che non occorre tagliare la testa a Golia, piuttosto studiarlo, non essere dotati di “spada e di lancia”, ma guardare attentamente e saper vedere; non sbilanciarsi verso atteggiamenti violenti e offensivi, ma tenere l’arma, il tuo sasso, nella tua mano destra, quella statica che non si dichiara aggressiva e non si lascia prendere da slanci insensati.
Ginnastica mentale ciò che manca alla società attuale; ginnastica intesa come elasticità di pensiero e possibilità di trovare in situazioni di disagio la traccia, la testimonianza di Pace.
Certo che mi avrai ascoltato, ti chiedo ancora, di vegliare su di me, sulla mia città e non solo e grazie per il tuo carattere NONFINITO, il segno che mi fa essere ancora con te. Tommaso“

In Piazza Santa Croce, in front of the church that holds my remains, the head of David appeared on the pavement, occupying about 1500 square meters of surface.

T.B.: “The technique of painting is black and white pigment with water combined with so much skill and passion.”
How many of you worked on the project and what is the best thing that has happened to you since you started thinking about the possibility of putting your idea into practice?
T.B.: “I will combine the last two questions in one answer. On Saturday (March 29), my colleague Kumiko Suzuki and I were helped by the art school, with many kids and their teachers. The best thing is that the kids can live such an interesting experience and that they can remain aware that “with art you can do it”. I hope they have with them all the passion possible to continue to do beautiful things”

“Dear DAVID, I am writing to you to talk to you, describe you and tell you, as I have been doing for years, about my life.
In a world that always seeks security in technology and “perfections” I feel uncomfortable and by contrast you remind me of me. For five hundred years now, five hundred and twenty-one to be exact, you have watched over the center, in the most important square of my city; to you who have the possibility of rising, of seeing “special designs”, which are only due to those who are capable of rising to the top, I ask you to intervene! We need, all of Florence and not only, needs attention, to make ourselves better despite appearances.
Your lesson must be taught, a lesson of Peace. We must understand that the right way to face problems is to know how to study them, penetrate them and know them.
