8 marzo 1475: il mio Battesimo e il prete che lo officiò
L’8 marzo del 1475 fui battezzato nella chiesetta di San Giovanni di Caprese, alla presenza di vari testimoni.
Avevo appena due giorni di vita e me ne stavo rannicchiato tra le braccia di mamma Francesca, scaldato dal sole di quasi primavera. Sapete, fino perlomeno agli anni 50 del Novecento, i bambini si battezzavano poco dopo la nascita.
Purtroppo la mortalità dei neonati era alta e i genitori non volevano correre il rischio che i figli potessero morire senza il Sacramento del Battesimo.
Venni battezzato da Don Daniello di San Buona Guida da Firenze, rettore di San Giovanni di Caprese assieme a Don Andrea, arrivato per l’occasione da Poppi.
Come accennavo prima, erano presenti diversi testimoni come per esempio Andrea di Biggio da Caprese, Marco di Giorgio da Caprese e Buonanni di Giaggio sempre da Caprese.

March 8, 1475: My Baptism and the Priest Who Officiated It
On March 8, 1475, I was baptized in the little church of San Giovanni di Caprese in the presence of several witnesses.
I was just two days old and I was curled up in the arms of my mother Francesca, warmed by the almost spring sun. You know, at least until the 1950s, children were baptized shortly after birth.
Unfortunately, newborn mortality was high and parents did not want to run the risk of their children dying without the Sacrament of Baptism.
I was baptized by Don Daniello di San Buona Guida from Florence, rector of San Giovanni di Caprese together with Don Andrea, who had come from Poppi for the occasion.
As I mentioned before, several witnesses were present, such as Andrea di Biggio from Caprese, Marco di Giorgio from Caprese and Buonanni di Giaggio also from Caprese.
