Cappella Sistina: gli artisti in udienza dal papa
Venerdì 23 giugno, in occasione dei cinquant’anni dell’inaugurazione della Collezione d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea dei Musei Vaticani, papa Francesco riceverà nella Cappella Sistina una nutrita delegazione di pittori, scultori, architetti, scrittori, poeti, musicisti, registi e attori.
Saranno circa 200 gli invitati scelti fra i più apprezzati creativi contemporanei alla straordinaria udienza papale.
L’udienza, come evidenzia il Dicastero per la Cultura e l’Educazione, fa parte di una serie di incontri papali dedicati agli artisti, il cui primo atto risale al 1964, quando Paolo VI chiese di rinnovare l’amicizia tra la Chiesa e gli artisti stessi.
La volontà espressa da papa Francesco è quella di celebrare il lavoro e la vita degli artisti, mettendo in evidenza il loro prezioso contributo alla costruzione di un senso di umanità collettivo e alla promozione dei valori della collettività.
Abbiamo bisogno di rilanciare l’esperienza della Chiesa come amica degli artisti, interessati alle domande che la contemporaneità ci pone (tanto quelle attuali, pressanti di drammaticità, come quelle così visionarie che indicano nuovi futuri possibili) e disponibili a sviluppare un dialogo più ricco e una crescita della comprensione reciproca”

L’evento, promosso dal Dicastero per la Cultura e l’Educazione, verrà organizzato in stretta collaborazione con il Governatorato dello Stato della Città del Vaticano, i Musei Vaticani e il Dicastero per la Comunicazione.

Sistine Chapel: the artists in audience with the pope
On Friday 23 June, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the inauguration of the Vatican Museums’ Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art, Pope Francis will receive a large delegation of painters, sculptors, architects, writers, poets, musicians, directors and actors in the Sistine Chapel .
There will be around 200 guests chosen from among the most appreciated contemporary creatives at the extraordinary papal audience.
The audience, as highlighted by the Dicastery for Culture and Education, is part of a series of papal meetings dedicated to artists, the first act of which dates back to 1964, when Paul VI asked to renew the friendship between the Church and the artists themselves.
The will expressed by Pope Francis is to celebrate the work and life of artists, highlighting their precious contribution to the construction of a sense of collective humanity and to the promotion of community values.
