Il 18 maggio prossimo verrà battuto all’asta un mio disegno fino al momento rimasto inedito, derivato da Masaccio. E’ probabilmente uno studio giovanile che realizzai quando me ne andavo spesso a studiare dal vero i superbi affreschi di Masaccio e Masolino nella Cappella Brancacci.

Il disegno appartenente a una collezione francese privata, verrà battuto all’asta da Christies a Parigi nella vendita Maîtres anciens et du XIXe siècle. Tableaux, dessins, sculptures con una stima fatta su richiesta che approssimativamente dovrebbe aggirarsi attorno ai 30milioni di Euro.

Il governo francese ha da poco concesso la licenza di esportazione per l’opera e quindi potranno partecipare all’asta collezionisti provenienti da ogni angolo del pianeta. Prima di essere battuto all’asta, il disegno del Giovane Nudo con le due Figure Dietro verrà esposto prima a Hong Kong e successivamente a New York.

Il primo esperto ad attribuire il disegno a me fu Furio Rinaldi nel 2019 che al momento era in forze al dipartimento di Old Master Drawings di Christie’s. Successivamente anche Paul Joannides, professore di storia dell’arte all’Università di Cambridge e che a lungo ha studiato i miei disegni, ha avuto modo di studiare a lungo il disegno sostenendo l’importante attribuzione.

Al momento il disegno che ancora era in mani private che realizzai io che detiene il record mondiale d’asta è lo Studio di Nudo Maschile che fu venduto a Londra il 4 luglio del 2000 per 12 milioni di dollari. Vediamo alla fine a quanto verrà acquistato questo prezioso disegno.

An unpublished 30 million euro drawing of mine at auction at Christie’s

On 18 May, one of my drawings which had remained unpublished until now, derived from Masaccio, will be auctioned. It is probably a youth study that I carried out when I often went to study the superb frescoes by Masaccio and Masolino in the Brancacci Chapel from life.

The drawing, which belongs to a private French collection, will be auctioned by Christies in Paris in the Maîtres anciens et du XIXe siècle sale. Tableaux, dessins, sculptures with an estimate made on request that should approximately be around 30 million euros.

The French government has recently granted the export license to this work and therefore collectors from every corner of the planet will be able to participate in the auction. Before being auctioned, the drawing of the Young Nude with the Two Figures Behind will be exhibited first in Hong Kong and then in New York.

The first expert to attribute the drawing to me was Furio Rinaldi in 2019 who was at the time in force at Christie’s Department of Old MMaster Drawings.
