Brescia: squarciata tela del Moretto
Squarciata accidentalmente una tela dipinta a olio su tela del Moretto realizzata dall’artista tra il 1522 e il 1524.
Sembra quasi il titolo di un film o qualcosa di simile ma è ciò che è accaduto alla mostra in corso ‘Il Rinascimento a Brescia. Moretto, Romanino, Savoldo 1512-1552’ al Museo di Santa Giulia.
Il dipinto fu acquistato a Roma da Canova e finì nelle collezioni della sua casa natale di Possagno. Tornato a Bologna in occasione dell’esposizione in questione, è stato rovinato in modo accidentale.
Nella serata di ieri una visitatrice è inciampata ed è finita sulla fragile tela, ubicata all’ingresso della sezione dedicata alla Devozione.
La tela un tempo veniva portata in processione e fu dipinta dall’artista fronte retro. Mentre da un lato sono presenti Santi non identificati, dall’altro si distinguono nettamente la Vergine e i due devoti appartenenti alla confraternita della Madonna del Carmine, per la quale il Moretto, al secolo Alessandro Bonvicino, l’aveva realizzata tra il 1522 e il 1524.
Lo squarcio sulla tela interessa la zona del panneggio della tunica di uno dei due devoti come si può vedere nella foto pubblicata da BresciaOggi.

Brescia: Moretto’s canvas torn
An oil on canvas painting by Moretto, created by the artist between 1522 and 1524, was accidentally torn.
It almost seems like the title of a film or something similar, but that’s what happened to the current exhibition ‘The Renaissance in Brescia. Moretto, Romanino, Savoldo 1512-1552’ at the Santa Giulia Museum.
The painting was purchased in Rome by Canova and ended up in the collections of his birthplace in Possagno. When it returned to Bologna for the exhibition in question, it was accidentally ruined.
Yesterday evening, a visitor tripped and ended up on the fragile canvas, located at the entrance to the section dedicated to Devotion.
The canvas was once carried in procession and was painted by the artist on both sides. While on one side there are unidentified Saints, on the other the Virgin and the two devotees belonging to the confraternity of the Madonna del Carmine are clearly distinguishable, for which Moretto, born Alessandro Bonvicino, had created it between 1522 and 1524.
The tear in the canvas affects the area of the drapery of the tunic of one of the two devotees as can be seen in the photo published by BresciaOggi.
