Domani 19 novembre aprirà al pubblico la mostra “I Macchiaioli. L’avventura dell’arte Moderna” al Museo Revoltella di Trieste.

Veniva definito come Macchiaioli il gruppo più importante di artisti italiani ottocenteschi. Spariscono dai loro dipinti le figure mitologiche e romantiche per lasciare spazio a una pittura più immediata e realista. Prediligevano raffigurare scene di vita quotidiana dipinte con pennellate veloci e brevi.

Attivi dagli anni ’50 e ’60, i Macchiaioli fra i quali i più celebri furono Telemaco Signorini, Giovanni Fattori e Silvestro Lega, erano soliti incontrarsi al Caffè Michelangelo di Firenze per parlare e mettere a confronto le loro idee sulla pittura moderna.

Mostrarono per la prima volta le loro opere a un pubblico più ampio durante l’Esposizione Nazionale del 1861 e ricevettero critiche aspre. Un anno dopo fu il giornale conservatore Nuova Europa a definirli Macchiaioli, un termine sprezzante.

La mostra “I Macchiaioli. L’avventura dell’arte Moderna” propone oltre 80 opere fra le più significative del movimento artistico, rappresentando gli anni della macchia e quelli successivi del Naturalismo per raccontare l’intera esperienza artistica dei Macchiaioli, dal 1855 fino agli inizi del Novecento.

Avete tempo fino al 10 aprile 2023 per ammirare fra le tante opere il dipinto di Bambino a Riomaggiore (1894-95) e Solferino (1859) di Telemaco Signorini, Mamma con bambino(1866-67) di Silvestro Lega, Fanteria italiana e Tramonto in Maremma(1900-05) di Giovanni Fattori e Bambino al sole(1869) di Giuseppe De Nittis accanto a Signore al pianoforte (1869) di Giovanni Boldini.

Prodotta da Arthemisia e curata da Tiziano Panconi, in collaborazione con il Museoarchives Giovanni Boldini Macchiaioli di Pistoia che si occupa dell’archiviazione delle opere di questi artisti, la mostra è un’importante occasione per riscoprire i capolavori dell’arte dell’Ottocento italiano, fra dipinti celebri e opere meno note, provenienti dalle più prestigiose collezioni private italiane ed europee.

The Macchiaioli: the adventure of modern art in Trieste

Tomorrow 19 November the exhibition “I Macchiaioli. The Adventure of Modern Art “at the Revoltella Museum in Trieste.

The most important group of nineteenth-century Italian artists were defined as Macchiaioli. The mythological and romantic figures disappear from their paintings to make way for a more immediate and realistic painting. They preferred to depict scenes of everyday life painted with quick and short brushstrokes.

Active from the 1950s and 1960s, the Macchiaioli, among which the most famous were Telemaco Signorini, Giovanni Fattori and Silvestro Lega, used to meet at the Caffè Michelangelo in Florence to talk and compare their ideas on modern painting. The exhibition “I Macchiaioli.
